Chateau Elan
This 3,100-acre complex is a winery and a full-service resort. It includes more than 200 acres of vineyards and a visitor's center built in the style of a 16th century French chateau. Gwinnett County Civic & Cultural Center
The Gwinnett County Civic & Cultural Center is a multi-purpose facility that serves as both a convention and exhibition center and as a home for the performing arts. The recently renovated facility includes an exhibition hall with some 50,000 square feet of convertible space, 14 executive meeting rooms, a ballroom with some 6,000 square feet, and on-site caterer and a 700 - seat Performing Arts Theatre. Gwinnett History Museum
The Gwinnett History Museum is located in the historic Lawrenceville Female Seminary, listed on the National Register of Historic laces. The museum houses a variety of Georgian historic and folk artifacts all related to the history of Gwinnett County and its people. Some of the displays interpret 19th through early 20th century school days, farm life, religion and fine examples of folk furnishings crafted by natives of the county. Historic Courthouse
Gwinnett County has a number of interesting historical structures, including the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse (1885) on the square in downtown Lawrenceville. The courthouse is open free to the public for tours Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Gwinnett Historical Society (770) 822-5174 operates the Gwinnett History Center on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse and can provide information on the county's historic attractions, such as the Elisha Winn Home (1812). Lake Lanier Islands
One of the busiest and most popular recreation lakes in the United States, the 1,200 acre Lake Lanier Islands complex offers a variety of activities, including boating, fishing, water skiing, sailing, picnicking and horseback riding. The Beach and Water Park features water slides, a wave pool, recreation boats, a mini-golf course and a white-sand beach. They have open 30 rental lake houses, a new interactive water attraction and have a new 65 passenger excursion boat. Also part of the complex are two resort hotels and two 18 hole golf courses. Landers-Cain House
The birthplace of Eli Pinson Landers, a Confederate soldier from Gwinnett County whose moving letters have been memorialized in the award-winning book, Weep Not For Me, Dear Mother. Lanier Museum of Natural History
Operated by the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Division, the museum focuses on the county's natural and cultural history. Mechanicsville School House
The last one-room school house in Gwinnett County, built in 1911, is located on the corner of Third Avenue and Florida Avenue in Doraville. Presently, in restoration by the Norcross, Mechanicsville, Pinckneyville Historical Society.

Road Atlanta Raceway
One of the best road courses around, this 2.54 mile, 12 turn circuit hosts many motorcycle and sports car races every season. Southeastern Railway Museum
This 30-acre, open-air museum features more than 90 pieces of rolling stock including vintage steam locomotives, the historic Presidential Pullman car "Superb," World War II troop kitchens and wooden freight cars. Featuring train rides on full-size restored cabooses. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursdays-Fridays; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays; noon-5 p.m. third Sundays. $6; $4 senior citizens and ages 2-12. Stone Mountain Park
The main attraction at the 3,200-acre park is, of course, the mountain itself, the world's largest exposed mass of granite featuring the famous carving of Confederate heroes. The park offers lodging, camping, swimming, fishing, tennis and golf. It has picnic areas, a sky lift, a beach, a 10-building antebellum plantation, a paddlewheel riverboat, a scenic railroad, a wildlife preserve and petting zoo, and a museum highlighting the history of the carving. Yellow River Game Ranch
This see and touch attraction features such animals as deer, buffalo, fox, bears, mountain lions and raccoons in a 24-acre naturally wooded preserve along the banks of the Yellow River.
