Based on our investigation, the Chapel defense team has discovered numerous examples of police misconduct in the Gwinnett PD's handling of this case. Not all officers are involved, of course, and I want to thank those in the PD that have had the courage and integrity to cooperate with us. We have evidence of police involvement in illegal drug trafficking, obstruction of justice, etc. We will be calling for the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners to bring in an outside law enforcement agency, such as the GBI, to review these facts and investigate the Chapel case and the cover-up. Whatever anyone's opinion of Mike Chapel's guilt or innocence, everyone must agree that it is highly improper for the county police to be investigating themselves. We will be hosting a press conference to detail these allegations in the near future and will post that information here for interested parties.
